• Rihanna Ordered to Shut Up and Rest

  Los Angeles (E! Online) - Perhaps Rihanna was caught out in that London rain without her umbrella.

  The 19-year-old Barbados native has been forced to cancel three U.K. gigs on the advice of her doctor, who wants the "Shut U

  p and Drive" singer to slow down for a few days.

  Saturday's show in Nottingham, England, was the first casualty, with concerts Monday in Birmingham and Tuesday in Bournemouth the next to be crossed off her schedule.

  Rihanna said that she "appreciates the love and support of all her fans and wants nothing more than to see and connect with them," according to a statement released by Birmingham's NEC Arena, where she was scheduled to perform.

  Disappointed fans have been asked to hold onto their tickets until further news is available. As of now, Rihanna is still planning to "Pon de Replay" Thursday in Newcastle.

  While her camp hasn't disclosed what's ailing Rihanna, we know she isn't suffering from a lack of kudos.

  The platinum-selling artist, whose European tour kicked off last month in Paris and wraps up Dec. 21 in Moscow, arose Thursday to learn that she had been nominated for six Grammy Awards, including Song and Record of the Year for "Umbrella," that catchy little collaboration with Jay-Z from her third studio album, Good Girl Gone Bad.

  Rihanna was also named Favorite Female Artist at the American Music Awards last month and picked up two MTV Video Music Awards for "Umbrella" back in September.

  The Grammys will be handed out Feb. 10 in Los Angeles.

• Sugababes hit top of singles chart

  LONDON (Reuters) - The Sugababes fought off strongcompetition to claim the number one spot in the singles chart,the Official UK Charts Company said on Sunday.

  The all-girl band, who last week entered the chart at 35with "B

  abes About You Now," pushed reggae-rap artist SeanKingston off the top spot and held off the challenge of formerX Factor winner Shayne Ward.

  "No U Hang Up/If That's OK With You" by Ward was the top10's only new entry, with rapper 50 Cent's "Ayo Technology"featuring Justin Timberlake and Timbaland slipping one place tothird. Kingston's "Beautiful Girls" fell to fourth place.

  Ida Corr versus Fedde Le Grand's "Let Me Think About It"put in an impressive showing rising to number five from 64th.

  The remaining five places in the top 10 were taken up byfallers, with "Hey There Delilah" by U.S. pop band Plain WhiteT's at number six, rapper Kanye West's "Stronger" at seven andBritish singer James Blunt's "1973" at eight.

  "She's So Lovely" by Scouting For Girls slipped two toninth, with teenage R&B star Rihanna's "Shut Up And Drive"rounding out the top 10.

  There was a new number one in the album chart with the FooFighters' "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace" -- a new entry --pushing "All The Lost Souls" by Blunt down to second place.

  There were a couple of other new entries in the albumcharts' top 10 with "The World is Yours" by former Stone Rosessinger Ian Brown in at number four, with Ryandan's eponymousentry coming in at number seven.

• Remixed Stones tune not what everyone wants

  LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Over the final scenes ofcurrent box office champ "21," the London Bach Choir's angelicintro on the Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What YouWant" starts playi

  ng. But as soon as the credits begin to roll,the song stutters, skips and suddenly gets an electronica beat.

  This, as it turns out, isn't your parents' Stones track.

  The "You Can't Always Get What You Want" remix by Belgianduo Soulwax is the lead song on the "21" soundtrack, and thenew version is getting the love-it-or-hate-it treatment fromcritics and consumers. Billboard's Sven Philipp called it"suspenseful, clever and hard-grooving." But then there was theone anonymous commenter on iTunes who wrote: "This is acomplete butchering of one of the Stones' most proud-soundingtracks. What the hell? This basically ruined my day."

  David Sardy, producer of the soundtrack album and composerof the score, says with a laugh: "We've managed to do somethingmusically controversial in a movie! When was the last time thathappened?"

  For Sardy and Lia Vollack, president of worldwide music forColumbia Pictures, remixing the 1969 classic for "21" was ameasured bet, one they felt fit in perfectly with thecollege-students-bucking-the-system tone of the film.

  "It evolved from this type of music Dave and I seehappening a lot in the world right now," Vollack says. "There'sdance music that's going on, and yet it's keeping it a littlebit rock." The rest of the "21" soundtrack shows the influenceof these genres, from "Big Ideas," the new track from LCDSoundsystem, to Rihanna's New Order sample in the lead-in to"Shut Up and Drive."

  The original Stones version of "You Can't Always Get WhatYou Want" was placed over the end credits at first, but whileit's an apt message for the moral of the movie, it didn't quitegel with the rest of the film's electronica-tinged soundtrack.

  Enter Soulwax, the nom de mix of brothers David and StephenDewaele. After some convincing from Vollack and Sardy, ABKCO,which owns the rights to the early Rolling Stones catalog,provided the original master tapes of "You Can't Always GetWhat You Want" for Soulwax to work from. But the New York labeldid provide a guard to travel with the briefcase containing thetapes to Belgium.

  "It's definitely a dividing-line song," Sardy says. "Ifyou're offended, you're of a certain age -- and if you're not,you're definitely of a certain age. But when you think of howoffensive the Stones were when they arrived on the scene, it'sfull circle. It's rock 'n' roll."

• `Bourne' earns 3 People Choice nods

  BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - "The Bourne Ultimatum" was among leading nominees for the 34th annual People's Choice Awards, organizers said Thursday.

  The spy thriller was nominated for favorite movie, favorite action movie and favori

  te "threequel." Leading man Matt Damon was nominated for favorite male action star.

  He's up against Johnny Depp, who got nods in the male action star and favorite male movie star categories. Jessica Alba scored nominations for favorite leading lady and favorite female action star.

  In music, Justin Timberlake earned nominations for favorite male singer and favorite pop song. "Give It to Me," a Timbaland song on which Timberlake is featured, garnered a nod for favorite hip-hop song.

  Other multiple nominees included "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" and "Transformers."

  Winners will be announced Jan. 8 during an awards show broadcast on CBS.

• People Dig Bourne, Depp, Decepticons

  Los Angeles (E! Online) - There's isn't a whole lot more than meets the eye at this awards show, although the eye will be meeting more than usual.

  Not only is Transformers in the running for favorite movie, ac

  tion film and soundtrack song at the 34th Annual People's Choice Awards, but the brain trust behind the upcoming homage to box office clout, radio airplay, magazine covers and plain old good looks has added a handful of new categories to honor the past year's trends in film, TV and music.

  As evidenced by fresh fields honoring threequels, indie movies, reunion tours and sci-fi shows, Knowledge Networks—the market researchers behind the vote-for-your-favorites fun—apparently are looking to pick even more young-adult brains to further explore what makes wallets open.

  Joining Michael Bay's action extravaganza in the favorite film category is The Bourne Ultimatum (also up for favorite action movie and threequel) and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, which has an illustrious pedigree going for it, with both Curse of the Black Pearl and Dead Man's Chest having taken the top prize in previous years.

  Defending Favorite Male Movie Star, Action Star and On Screen Duo half Johnny Depp won't have the chance to triple his pleasure again when the People's Choice Awards are handed out Jan. 8 in a ceremony to be hosted by Ryan Seacrest and broadcast live on CBS…but he'll still be able to pocket two trophies, having been nominated in both of those solo categories yet again.

  He and Keira Knightley won't have a chance to defend their on screen duo credentials, however, having been displaced this year by Rush Hour 3's Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, Ocean's Thirteen's Brad Pitt and George Clooney, and Spider-Man 3's Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire.

  All threequels, but only Spider-Man will face off against Pirates and Bourne for top Part Three honors.

  The fact 21 series are vying against each other for either Favorite New TV Comedy or Drama once again hints at that market research theme, but fans have been asked to narrow it down among CSI, Law & Order: SVU, and House (the same as last year, but Grey's Anatomy was swapped for SVU)for favorite overall drama and The King of Queens, My Name Is Earl and Two and a Half Men (exactly the same as last year) for favorite sitcom.

  Nominees are chosen by a sampling of men and women ages 18-49.

  Other familiar faces back by popular demand includes the repackaged trio of last year's Favorite Male TV Star nominees, Kiefer Sutherland, Patrick Dempsey and Charlie Sheen; perennial Favorite Female Movie Stars Halle Berry and Sandra Bullock (squaring off this year against Reese Witherspoon); Fox's animation Sunday; and talk show hosts Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah Winfrey and Jay Leno.

  The musical categories features some fresh faces, however, with Fergie, Gwen Stefani and Beyoncé competing for Favorite Female Singer honors and John Mayer, Tim McGraw and Justin Timberlake bringing variety back to the race for Favorite Male Singer.

  Beyonce and Timberlake both lead the individual nominations with three apiece, including favorite female or male singer, and are competing against each other for favorite pop song, "Irreplaceable" versus "What Goes Around…Comes Around."

  At the People's Choice Awards, if you go around one year, chances are you're coming around the next.
